Sixteen of the Palisociety hotels just joined Design Hotels, which is a Marriott-owned platform. That means your Bonvoy Points can soon book any of the Palisociety hotels.
Los Angeles-based Palisociety, the independent company with boutique stays across the U.S., is joining Design Hotels, the Marriott-owned platform representing over 300 design-forward accommodations.
Travelers will be able to earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points at 16 of the Palisociety hotels that, until now, sat entirely outside any major loyalty program. That includes the recently opened Hôtel Lili in Beverly Hills, Le Petit Pali St. Helena in Napa wine country, and Arrive Albuquerque in New Mexico. However, since Design Hotels participates in Bonvoy on a limited basis, elite perks like complimentary breakfast, lounge access, and suite night awards will not apply.
Started as a single Los Angeles hotel in 2008, Palisociety now has the Palihouse, Palihotel, Le Petit Pali, and Arrive brands. “Our big question was how do you maintain your independence, and how do you not sell out, but still add value?” Avi Brosh, Palisociety CEO and founder, tells Travel + Leisure. “This seemed like a really nice threading of the needle for us.”
Getting in front of Marriott’s travelers, Brosh notes, is how new guests find a fast-growing portfolio. ‘When you start having hotels all across the country, you have to cast a wider net.” He insists that the Bonvoy affiliation will not change anything about how the hotels—designed and operated in-house—are run or how new ones are created. The company’s properties lean residential and eclectic, and often include lobby cafés that double as hangouts for local residents.
“Our hotels are meant to be championed by the neighborhoods they’re in,” Brosh says.
The 16 properties from Palisociety will become the largest single portfolio addition for Design Hotels. The deal also pushes the collection past 100 hotels across the Americas, more than doubling its footprint in the last three years.
“Design Hotels has always been a home for founders, visionaries, and original thinkers,” Stijn Oyen, managing director, says in a statement, crediting Brosh for building their company with a similar independent mindset. “The alignment between our brands was immediate.”
As for what’s next for Palisociety, Brosh teases that a couple of projects are under construction, including the company’s first-ever property outside the U.S. He wouldn’t say where, only that the company will “branch out into other markets that make sense when you’re California-based.”
The Palisociety lineup will become bookable through Marriott Bonvoy and Design Hotels starting June 22, in a “staggered” rollout, according to a spokesperson. All properties are expected to go online over the following weeks.
